Callie Mae Sea Foundation Expands Efforts for a Sustainable Gulf Coast

Callie Mae Sea Foundation spent the start of November filling more Intermas biodegradable shell bags on the Mississippi Coast! After such an amazing living shoreline project with C. Cenac & Co. LLC. and French Hermit Oyster Co. this past summer, we have been so fortunate to continue this strategic alliance. Together we created and filled biodegradable shell bags engineered to lessen the environmental impact of microplastics. These bags are made from a new European certified biodegradable material, and they were used in a project by MSU/Rutgers on the Florida Coast. These bags are stronger and more economical compared to plastic and cellulose bags used in the past. We also made some exciting new connections. Stay tuned as 2025 is looking to be a big year for us and French Hermit Oyster Co on the Mississippi Coast!
