Happy World Honu Day!

Honu is the Hawaiian word for sea turtles. Did you know that even though green sea turtles are endangered, snorkelers and divers commonly see them around shallow reefs on the Hawaiian Islands? We are not sure if these two amazing creatures in the photo knew it was World Sea Turtle Day or if they just wanted to hang out, but it was sure amazing to spend some time underwater with these majestic creatures today while filming for educational purposes. Some green sea turtle have been documented to live for up to 100 years or older; however, sadly human-induced stressors such as plastic pollution, fisheries, and habitat degradation have impinged on their survival. Keep a lookout on our page and youtube channel for educational videos about sea turtles and some of the other amazing marine organisms we are working hard to protect and conserve for future generations!
